What is the right standing with God?
It means we are justified in Christ; we are been declared righteous. Yeap! You are free of all the sin you have ever committed or will commit in the future because Jesus in His mercy and love for us, He decided to take my sins and yours so that we can be His brothers and sisters and also share His father’s Kingdom with us. Jesus did this on the cross 2000 years ago.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21
“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sins, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”
(“For God made Christ…”) this means that, God love the world so much, meaning he loved you and me so much that, He had to send Jesus His son, His only Son, to die on the cross for the sins he never commit, therefore it means they are our sins that put Jesus on the cross, so that me and you could walk free of sin and be part of God’s Kingdom.
How do I become righteous?
There is nothing you can do to earn the righteousness of God. It is something that you must get it for free. Yes, it is free, there is no catch on this one, free means free. The only catch on this is you must accept by faith what Jesus Chris has done for you and for me on the cross. Romans 5:17-18 says,
“For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! 18Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.”
What is the gift of salvation?
The gift happens when we invite Jesus in our heats. It is the gift of salvation that produces a changed heart in us, in turn, it changes our actions. Actions cannot change our hearts, only by accepting what Jesus did on the cross for us can.
It starts by acknowledging that we are sinners and we have been trying to be good or do better by ourselves, it is by acknowledging that our ways of doing things are not working out for us so far and we need to repent by saying Jesus I am sorry; I thought my way of doing things were better, forgive me for this and I want you to be my Lord and saviour, please lead me in my life and all that concerns me. Then walk away, do the best to please Jesus by renewing your mind, which is by reading the bible.
God looks on our heart, not on what we have achieved, because, we may achieve so many things which in a way, may have been achieved in wrong motives. (1 Samuel 16:7)
If we want to worship God truthfully, it must start from our hearts and not from our actions. This means we must be righteous in our heart first to truly worship God. John 4:24
